Taught within the Institute of Communications Studies you'll receive a distinctive, multidisciplinary, 360 degree vision of new media. Design and coding skills are developed in parallel with skills in project management and communications theory. During the three years you will be encouraged to produce increasingly complex practical and written work that will give you a broad range options for employment or further study when you graduate.

Teaching is delivered in a variety of ways including workshops, lectures and seminars where students are encouraged to develop their analytical, conceptual and practical thinking. The University of Leeds is the only Russell Group University to offer a course in New Media. Whilst the University has over 30,000 students we only take 40 students each year. This allows us to help you maximise your particular strengths.

The New Media course is based in the Roger Stevens Building, in the heart of the campus. We are 10 minutes walk from the centre of Leeds, a busy and vibrant city. Leeds is also a thriving hub for creative talent with many new media and communications agencies.

We welcome a range of guest speakers from the public and private sectors who are keen to share their expertise in meeting the communications challenges of working with new media. This, along with our growing alumni contacts, means that you are encouraged to explore possible career paths with people already working in the industry. Employment rates are high for the course. We have graduates working for the world-renowned advertising company M&C Saatchi, graduates at London-based digital design agencies such as Collective London and phd as well as graduates writing content for websites such as MTV online.
